Description
Leyenda was composed by Isaac Albeniz in 1892 as the prelude movement of his three-movement suite, Chants d'Espagne. The name "Asturias" was given to the piece posthumously by the German publisher Hofmeister, however, it should be noted that the music is not suggestive of the folk music of the Asturias region in Spain. Rather, the music is said to imitate the Flamenco dance traditions of the Andalusian region.
