Suite Les Nations

Travel, a subject of interest during a time when mobility could hardly be described as developed, is the theme of George Phillip Telemann’s Overture Suite in Bb Major, “Les Nations” (TWV 55:B5). The peoples “visited” by the mostly self-taught composer exhibit characteristics or peculiarities generally associated with each culture. Movements include: Ouverture, Minuet I & II, Les Turcs, Les Suisses, Les Moscovites, Les Portugais, Les Boiteux, and Les Coureurs.
